My passion for cakes, both making and eating, began at a very early age and has only continued to grow into what can only be described as full on obsession!
Originally from Uganda, I moved to the UK in 2014 to start my degree in Journalism at the University of Sheffield. After completing the first term, I made the very difficult decision to leave university and everything I had worked so hard for there, in order to pursue my real dream of becoming a cake artist and designer. I spent two wonderful years working at a charming cake shop in Brighton, before enrolling in the Peggy Porschen Academy Professional Cake Maker Diploma in London. It was here, under the tutelage of world renowned cake artist Peggy Porschen, I realised my love of delicate handmade sugar flowers and subsequently went on to work in some of London’s top cake companies.
Working as a professional cake artist has been the most amazing experience and I feel so lucky to be able to do something I truly love! Since starting The Infield Cakery (formerly Kampala Cakery) in October of 2018, I have been blown away by the reaction to my cakes. I have since been awarded with Best Wedding Cake Entry, Best Creative Entry and Best Overall Baker at the 2018 Kampala Cake Fair, as well as Best Tasting Cakes at the 2019 Kenyan Baking Industry Awards in Nairobi. The Infield Cakery is the next step in my cake making adventure and I’m so excited to be bringing my stunning cake creations back home to the Pearl of Africa.
